OK all of you out there need to go to I-Tunes (or wherever you get your music ) and purchase the greatest hits of Little Richard. I-Tunes is offering 25 songs for just $7.99. How can you beat that? This man is a living legend and a pioneer of rock and roll, period!!! There are so many cool tunes here. I also found this cool video of the hit “Tutti Frutti” go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlkMc0ZaJmY.

Hinder has released a single “Use Me” from their upcoming album “Take It to The Limit” to be released on Nov. 4 of this year. Sounds good. Check it out.

It’s been 27 years since his biggest hit “Jessie’s Girl” was all over the radio waves and now Rick Springfield is back with a new album released this past Tuesday called “Venus in Overdrive.” The popular single “What’s Victoria Secret?” is on a radio station near you. There are currently 64 reviews on I-Tunes and the average ranking is 4.5 stars. (out of 5). The title track actually sounds a little heavy.

My new favorite song of the week is “Say Hey (I Love You)” by Michael Franti & Spearhead. I’m telling you now buy this song, what a fun song!! Perfect summer song and will be heard everywhere very soon!! He will be at next weekend’s show in NJ All Points West, he scheduled for Sunday at 3:45 p.m.

Rumor has it that Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey are fighting so bad that the upcoming tour they will not travel together or stay at same hotels. But they intend on going forward with the tour, you know why right? There are $100M reasons why.

How popular are video games? Aerosmith recently found out when they released 25 songs for “Guitar Hero.” Check this out: when they released their last studio album “Honkin’ On Bobo” in 2004, they sold 160,500 copies in the first week (I contributed to that, love that album) grossing about $2M. When Guitar Hero was released in early July, during the first week it sold 567,000 copies for a gross of $25M. So now the more popular bands will have a new venue to make more “rock star” money. Metallica will release their new album on Guitar Hero the same day the CD will hit stores. This is a serious business. Between Guitar Hero and Rock Band, these games have grossed nearly $1 BILLION since 2007. Guitar Hero artists include Hendrix, Metallica and Aerosmith. Rock Band artists include Guns & Roses, AC/DC, The Who and Bob Dylan.

Recent classic album: Elephant by the White Stripes. My I-POD shuffle landed on “Seven Nation Army” and of course I had to listen to the whole classic album from Jack and Meg White. I love the simple drums in this song and the crashing cymbals as Jack wails on his guitar. I know this is an album review- but if I may for one second- the video for this song is the best and if you have not seen it- buy it from I-Tunes now!! It’s hard to believe that essentially this one guy, Jack White, creates this wall of sound. The beginning of the next song really gets my head banging- “Black Math.” How cool is the bridge when it slows down and rocks out? I have it cranking right now!!! Put the volume way up. I remember this was a boot camp song that Nick picked out for us back in the good old days. Love the way the song ends “Yeah, Yeah…” Track # 3 “There’s No Home for You Here” again has a great beginning and you’re hooked. Jack’s guitar has one of the highest pitch you’ll ever here on this song, sort of like Mariah Carey when she hits those notes that only dogs can hear. Then it’s on to my personal favorite of the album and it’s not even their own song- “I Just Don’t Know What to Do with Myself” which was written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. It was first made famous by the legendary Dusty Springfield. Obviously Jack’s version is a little heavier and again Meg’s drumming in this song is solid. Jack’s guitar work is flat out flawless and he pays homage to Burt, Hal and Dusty.

I remember the first time I heard “In the Cold Cold Night” and I thought this song is terrible but as I continued to listen, it grew on me and I do not skip past this song- so that is a true sign of a classic album- you can’t skip a song.“I Want to be the Boy” is very close to being the best song on the album (after the Dusty song). Perfect song in your I-POD as you walk the beach in the summer and the perfection continues with “You’ve Got Her in Your Pocket.” It reminds me of something Robert Plant would sing and sort of sounds like him as you listen closely. This song is just Jack’s vocals with his acoustic guitar but it sounds like more for some reason. Then it’s time to crank it up again for the bluesy “Ball & Biscuit.” Man what a sound!!! “It’s quite possible that I’m your third man girl but it’s a fact that I’m the seventh son.” This ranks up there with any blues rock song. “The Hardest Button to Button” sort of reminds you of Seven Nation but it kicks in a little faster. Jack and Meg work perfectly together with the bass guitar and bass drum. You will find yourself head-banging and playing air-guitar- I know I am. “Little Acorns” starts off with story told by a man with perfect radio or TV voice and tells a story of a woman named Janet. (reminds me of The Police with “Won’t you be my Girl” or The J. Geils Band with “No Anchovies Please”). Jack’s guitar work on this song could be the best on the album, there are so many changes in rhythm and the way he goes from soft to hard is like nothing that anyone does. He definitely listened to Zep when growing up because this has Zep written all over it. “Hypnotise” is a short upbeat song that will have you rocking in your seat or dancing around the room.

The last three songs on their 4th album released in 2003 are “The Air Near My Fingers”, “Girl You Have No Faith in Medicine” and “It’s True That We Love One Another” and they are all solid. “The Air…” changes the beat so many times and it works. The Medicine song is a fast upbeat song and the hook in the song is something you won’t be able to get out of your head. Half way through the song the guitar solo screams through the speakers and you again have to remind yourself that this is one person creating this sound. (no offense Meg). Now the last song is another song that I almost laughed off (and many of you probably will) but I like it. Every time I hear it, I start to laugh. It sounds like a song you’d sing around a campfire. How many artists could record a song like this? That is what makes them so good. They make the music they want to!! Now I know for some, the White Stripes is an acquired taste and I have to admit that this album took more than a few turns to pull me in. But now that I am in, I’m waiting for all of you to join me. Pure classic from top to bottom. And you have to see them live!!!

The late Jerry Garcia was born on this day in 1942.

Today is Dhani Harrison’s (son of George) birthday and he turns 30. Wow doesn’t that make you feel old?
