I was driving home the other night and the greatest rock station I mentioned to year a couple of weeks ago, WCCC 106.9 out of Hartford and every week night they play “the ’80’s at 8:00” and “the ’90’s at 9:00” and I caught the ’80’s. Well they took me back to bands I had forgotten about but still made an impact for me two decades ago. Of course they started off with Tesla but you already know how I feel about them. But the next few tunes were from Zebra “Whose Behind the Door” from their 1982 debut album. Randy Jackson, lead singer has always been compared to Robert Plant and actually is touring across the states with various orchestras doing Zeppelin music. Check out the web site.

Keeping with finding old music I had to purchase Rod Stewart‘s “Foot Loose and Fancy Free” CD (I-Tunes does not carry it) and again I had forgotten how friggin’ great this album is. Carmine Appice is the drummer for this album and check out his work on “Born Loose”- hard to find a better rock and roll song. And my two favorite songs on the album is Stewart’s cover of The Supreme’s “You Keep Me Hanging On”- absolutely love the intro to that song and “I Was Only Joking” – Just thinking about it now- “I was only joking” is in my top 5 songs of all time- there I said it. Of course the great “Hot Legs” is on this album- one of my mother’s all time favorites and I will never forget her dancing at my wedding to that song.

Lenny Kravitz will be all over television in the coming week to promote his new album, “It Is Time For A Love Revolution.” The vocalist will film a piece for CBS Sunday Morning February 3rd. (my new favorite show) The following day, he’ll walk on the set of MTV’s TRL to promote the album. Kravitz will tape an appearance for The Late Show With David Letterman on February 5th (it will air Feb. 8), then visit ABC’s Good Morning America the following day. His week concludes with a February 7th stop at TV’s Regis & Kelly. Lenny fans can also catch his new clip, “I’ll Be Waiting,” which recently made its way to video outlets. Kravitz’s “It Is Time For A Love Revolution” arrives February 5th. And of course Cindy and I are going to see him tonight at the Hammerstein!!! By the way Rolling Stone gave his new CD three stars. My review will come next week after I get it Tuesday.

Back on this day in 1964, seventy-three million people tuned into the Ed Sullivan show to catch a glimpse of a new band called the Beatles.Back on this day in 1968 Fleetwood Mac released its debut album and then same day in 1977 “Rumours” begins its trek to the top of the charts.

On this day back in 1992, Elton John and George Michael teamed up to score a US number one with a song recorded live at Wembley Stadium the previous March, “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”. Elton had originally released the song on his “Caribou” album in 1974.
