Other items:

If you feel the music inside of you, then you have to go see the movie "August Rush ". Took the family to see it over last weekend and everyone loved it. It’s also a "feel good" story- just in time for the holiday season. The one scene that I will never forget takes place between Freddie Highmore (August) and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (Louis) where they meet in Washington Square Park and perform a "dueling guitars" session. I loved the movie and will purchase the DVD once it comes out. The soundtrack is also very good. If you select only one song from this soundtrack- it has to be- "Someday" by John Legend -Buy it Now!!- that is my new favorite song of the week. "Raise It Up" is also a very good song along with "This Time".

I "discovered" a cool band this past weekend just by chance. As I was "channel surfing" I came across the "CBS Sunday Morning" show and there was a profile on a band called "Homemade Jamz " consisting of two brothers and their sister whose total ages combine to less than 37 years. They recently placed 2nd in the 23rd annual International Blues Challenge. Normally I do not do this, but if you want to check them out go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GaqWgLulHo. All I have to say is Wow!!! and hopefully these guys hit it big some day.

I-Tunes is offering a whole bunch of John Lennon "videos" from his most famous songs (Thanks Yoko) and I don’t have to tell you how good it is, do I? (although the video images for "Happy Christmas" are very disturbing, so you may not want to get that one- I had never seen this "video" and watched it for the first time after I bought it and I was taken back). Very sad that tomorrow is the 27th anniversary of his death. Do you remember where you were when you first heard or read about it? I do. This man was so ahead of his time and a complete legend. Ironic now how "Give Peace A Chance" means so much today. And on his classic, "Imagine" , the line "No need for greed or hunger".. Just stop and think about that for a second…He died too young… On another note- as I had my I-POD shuffle on, I came across "Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey" from the Beatles "White Album" and immediately listened to the whole album. Side 3 is my favorite ("I Will" & "Julia" are standouts for me) and this is a "desert island" disc for me without a doubt. (It should be on your list as well). BTW- Beatles catalog for digital down loads won’t be available till next year some time.

Led Zeppelin on the cover of this week’s Rollingstone magazine-buy it-enough said. The lucky ones will get to see them this Monday night in London. Hopefully tour comes next year. Rumors flying constantly- one have Metallica opening for them. Other than the Jets winning the Superbowl, that would be the end all for me. Metallica/Led Zeppelin.. ’m/ ’m/

Amazon is gaining momentum on I-Tunes already with their recent release of the availability to digitally download songs and CD’s for MP3 players.

Tom Petty pegged to play halftime at next year’s SuperBowl.

Reps for Velvet Revolver are dening that Scott Weiland was under the influence when he crashed his car in L.A. on Nov. 21. He’s also writing a book on his life long struggle with booze and drugs.

Godsmack released greatest hits this past Tuesday "Good Times, Bad Times-10 Years of Godsmack" (technically a year short as they released first CD in 1998). Did decent cover of the Zep classic as well.

Blake Lewis released "Audio Daydream" this past week and I have to tell you- just listening to the 30 second samples on I-Tunes- it really doesn’t sound half bad. I’ll get if for my youngest son as a stocking stuffer and will probably end up downloading into my I-POD. Sounds like a cross between Justin Timberlake meets the Chili Peppers.

Gene Simmons will appear on Ugly Betty soon. (I guess once the strike is over).

Today Harry Chapin would have been 65 years old. Another singer/songwriter taken too early. The "Cats in the Cradle" singer died in 1981 in a car accident on the L.I.E. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Tech in 1960. (myself in 1983) and was inducted into the Brooklyn Tech’s Alumni Hall of Fame in 2000.
